Managed backup for cloud files

Independent backups of the cloud files your business runs on.

Vaultelix keeps a separate, encrypted copy of your Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and Box files, updated on a schedule you choose. We set it up, we watch every run, and when something goes missing, we get it back to you.

  • Read-only access to your accounts
  • Nothing to install
  • Storage that is yours alone
Diagram: Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and Box are read with read-only access by Vaultelix, which runs scheduled backups of changed files and checks each run, then writes them over an encrypted connection to storage dedicated to one client, encrypted at rest, from which nothing is deleted.

Why it matters

Cloud storage and backup do different jobs.

Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox and Box are built to keep files available and in sync for everyone who needs them. That is exactly why they shouldn’t be your only copy: a deletion, an overwrite or a folder of encrypted files syncs just as faithfully as a good edit.

Your cloud storage

Built for working together

  • Keeps files available on every device
  • Shares folders with your team and clients
  • Syncs every change, including deletions
  • Trash and version history sit inside the same account, and expire on the provider’s schedule

An independent backup

Built for getting things back

  • A separate copy, in storage of its own
  • Deleting a file at the source leaves the backup alone
  • Changed files keep their earlier versions
  • A lost or compromised cloud login doesn’t reach it

Where a second copy earns its keep

  • A folder deleted by mistake
  • A shared file saved over with the wrong version
  • A former employee’s account removed
  • Ransomware encrypting a synced folder
  • Losing access to the account itself

How it works

Set up once. After that, it runs.

Vaultelix is a managed service. We handle the setup and keep an eye on every backup. Your part is granting read-only access.

  1. Tell us what to protect

Which services, which folders, and how often. We set up storage dedicated to you.

  2. Grant read-only access

We send simple step-by-step instructions for each service, with a separate section for your IT person if you have one.

  3. Backups run on schedule

Automatically, on the schedule you chose. Your folder structure is kept, and Google Docs, Sheets and Slides are saved as Office files.

  4. Ask for anything back

One file or a whole folder. Ask us, and we send you a private download link.

What you get

What every backup does for you.

You choose the folders and how often. The rest works the same way for every service. More about the product

  • Runs on your schedule

Every few hours, daily, weekly or monthly, set separately for each backup.

  • Copies only what changed

After the first backup, only new and changed files are copied, so frequent schedules stay quick.

  • Deletions don’t carry over

When a file disappears from your account, it stays in your backup. Vaultelix only ever adds to it.

  • Earlier versions are kept

A changed file is stored alongside its previous copy, not written over it.

  • Your folders, as you left them

Folder structure is preserved. Google Docs, Sheets and Slides are saved as .docx, .xlsx and .pptx files you can open anywhere.

  • Several sources, one place

Drive for the office, Dropbox for the design team, a NAS in the back room. Each on its own schedule, all in your storage.

Monitoring

We check the backup, not just the schedule.

A job that finishes without errors doesn’t prove anything useful was saved. These checks run for every client, in the background.

  • Regular restore tests

We regularly test that files can actually be restored from your backup, not just that a job ran.

  • Access checks

If a folder stops being shared or access is removed, we notice, so a broken backup never passes for a quiet one.

  • Storage checks

We routinely confirm your backup storage is intact and encrypted.

  • We tell you when it needs you

If something on your side needs fixing, such as a sharing setting that changed, we get in touch.

Security

Your data, kept separate and safe.

Security is built into how Vaultelix works, not added as an option you have to remember to switch on.

  • Read-only access

We only ask for access that can read your files. Vaultelix never changes or deletes anything in your account.

  • Encrypted in transit and at rest

Your files are encrypted on the way to your backup and while they are stored.

  • Storage of your own

Every client’s backups are kept in their own dedicated storage, never shared with anyone else.

  • Protected from deletion

Your backup only ever grows. Our systems can add to it but can’t delete from it.

  • Private by default

We don’t browse your files. Restores go straight to you through a private, time-limited link.

  • Monitored and tested

Every backup is monitored, and we regularly test that your files can actually be restored.

More about how we protect your data

Who it’s for

For anyone whose work lives in a cloud account.

  • Small offices

The files moved to the cloud and the server closet went away. The backup that used to live in it didn’t make the move. Vaultelix fills that gap without new hardware.

  • Accounting, legal and professional firms

Years of client documents sit in shared folders. Keep a copy nobody on the team can delete by accident, and one that doesn’t depend on any single person’s account.

  • Remote teams

When everyone works from their own laptop, the cloud account is the office. Back it up in one place instead of hoping each person does it.

  • Individuals

Photos, tax records and years of work in one Google or Microsoft account. A separate copy means one account problem doesn’t take them with it.

For IT providers

Look after clients’ IT? We can handle their cloud backups.

Every business you support gets its own storage and its own access, with setup instructions written for non-technical people. Tell us how you work with your clients and we’ll work out an arrangement that fits.

Pricing

One flat rate per client.

$20 per month

Each client you back up has a flat monthly rate with storage included. Only storage beyond that is billed by the gigabyte.

  • Includes up to 300 GB of backup data for each client
  • Storage beyond 300 GB is $0.03 per GB, per month
  • Multi-site backups, kept in more than one location, are also available

FAQ

Questions worth asking before you start.

Something we haven’t covered? Email [email protected] and we’ll answer it.

Isn’t my data already backed up by Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox?

Those services store your files reliably, but everything lives inside the same account. If a file is deleted, overwritten or encrypted, that change syncs everywhere, and getting it back depends on the account and its history. An independent backup is a separate copy that changes in your account can’t reach.

Which services can Vaultelix back up?

Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, Box, S3-compatible storage and SFTP servers such as a NAS. If you use something else, tell us.

Do you need my password?

No. You grant read-only access through each service’s own sharing or approval process, and you can remove it at any time.

How often do backups run?

As often as suits you: every few hours, daily, weekly, monthly, or on a custom schedule. Each backup can have its own.

Where is my backup stored?

In encrypted cloud storage dedicated to you, separate from your cloud account and from every other client.

Can I back up more than one account or service?

Yes. You can combine several accounts and services, each on its own schedule.

Can Vaultelix look after backups for several businesses?

Yes. Each business is kept completely separate. If you’re an IT provider, see Vaultelix for IT providers.

What happens if my cloud account is compromised?

Your backup is separate from your cloud account, so a compromised login doesn’t reach it. Files deleted from your account stay in the backup, and earlier versions of changed files are kept, so there is a clean copy to go back to.

Can I restore a single file?

Yes. Tell us what you need and we send you a private download link, whether it’s one file or a whole folder.

How long are backups kept?

Vaultelix never deletes your backed-up files on its own. If you want data removed, ask us and we’ll remove it.

Is my data encrypted?

Yes, both on the way to your backup and while it is stored.

How much does Vaultelix cost?

$20 a month, which includes up to 300 GB of backup data. Storage beyond 300 GB is $0.03 per GB, per month. There are no plan tiers; see the pricing page for details.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Nothing is installed on your computers, and your office internet connection isn’t used.

Is Vaultelix SOC 2 certified or HIPAA compliant?

Not currently. If you handle regulated data, talk to us first so we can be clear about what we can support.

Tell us what you’d like backed up.

A list of the services you use and a rough idea of how much data is involved is enough to start. We’ll reply with how setup would work for you.
